Hello,
My name is Gary, and I am hoping to find a living kidney donor. Declining kidney function is something I have been dealing with for the last 6 years. In 2023, I had an ultrasound done as part of a check-up, and a spot on my kidney was seen. An MRI was ordered to examine more closely, and the tumor turned out to be renal cell myeloma. I was extremely fortunate in my case, as the cancer was non-aggressive and treatable by cryoablation.
While I’m cancer free today, the downside is that the procedure inadvertently resulted in a portion of my kidney being lost. As a result, I’m now stage 5, and a transplant will be required. Dialysis is helping me keep going, but it will not provide a cure over the long haul. I’m still able to work and keep active, but over time my energy has been declining, and it will soon be very difficult to do my job and spend time with my wife, children and grandchildren.
I look forward to the day that I can get my normal life back. It would be a blessing to be able to spend time with my family and enjoy life without the constant concerns for my health. After my transplant, I would like to bring my granddaughters on a Disney cruise, go with them on long bike rides, and take them to Lake Superior so they can experience floating on the waves on top of a huge driftwood log.
I am on the waiting list for a kidney transplant, however that can often take years to get a match. I am hoping to find a living donor in order to benefit my health and improve my quality of life. A living donor transplant would mean so much to me because that would mean I can get back to my old life and live life to its fullest. I would be grateful if you could help me find a match by getting tested or sharing this information with your own network of friends, family and community.
I sincerely thank you,
Gary
