Hello,
My name is Matthew DiMatteo, and I am reaching out because I am in need of a kidney transplant and am hoping to find a living kidney donor. I have been dealing with kidney disease for the past three years. Over that time, my kidney function has continued to decline, and I have reached the point where a kidney transplant is necessary. It has been a difficult journey filled with doctor appointments, testing, and the uncertainty of what the future may bring.
But kidney disease is only a small part of who I am. I am a husband and a dad to two kids who mean everything to me. I enjoy being active and spending time with my family. I love skiing, biking, playing pickleball, and getting away up north whenever we have the chance. My biggest goal is to stay healthy and active so I can continue making memories with my wife and kids for many years to come.
A kidney transplant would give me the opportunity to get back to living life without kidney disease constantly hanging over me. I want to be able to watch my kids grow up, be there for all of their milestones, travel with my family, stay active, and simply enjoy the everyday moments that are easy to take for granted.
While I am pursuing a kidney transplant through the traditional waiting list, finding a living donor could give me the opportunity to receive a transplant much sooner. A living kidney donation would not just give me a healthier future—it would give me more time and a better quality of life with the people I love most. I understand that donating a kidney is an incredibly personal and significant decision, and I would never want anyone to feel pressured. Even if donating isn't something you can do, you can still make a huge difference by sharing my story. The person who may be able to help could be a friend, coworker, relative, or even someone I have never met. If you are interested in learning more about becoming a living kidney donor or getting tested to see if you could be a match, I would be incredibly grateful. Thank you for taking the time to read my story, for sharing it, and for helping me in my search. It truly means more to my family and me than I can put into words.
Sincerely,
Matthew
