I am honored to offer this statement in support of my fraternity brother and dear friend, Roosevelt V. Boone, III, as he seeks a life-saving kidney transplant. I have known Roosevelt for more than fifty years, and throughout that time, he has consistently demonstrated unwavering personal and professional character, sincere compassion, and unwavering faith.
Roosevelt is a caring, loving, and God-filled man whose life has been defined by service to family, friends, fraternity, and community--both the University of Maryland and the City of Baltimore. The kidney failure has impacted his desire to be a supporter of and directly involved in the community.
Despite facing significant health challenges, Roosevelt remains steadfast in his commitment to others after successful heart-related surgery in February 2026. His focus is never on his own hardship, but on uplifting those around him. Most remarkable is his quiet strength—he does not complain. Instead, he continues to encourage, mentor, and serve with dignity and grace.
All kidney transplant needs are important. What makes Roosevelt unique is that he has poured decades of his life into supporting others. In this critical moment, he deserves that same support in return. I wholeheartedly stand with him and pray that he receives the transplant that will allow him to continue the meaningful work and relationships that define his life.
