Hi, My name is Kim and I am in stage 5 kidney failure. I am writing to you because I am in need of someone to donate a kidney to me. What most people don’t know is you only need one kidney to live a healthy life.. I have two grown children that I love dearly, and a wonderful boyfriend who treats me with love and respect. In 2019 I had a stroke and was diagnosed with a rare Blood clotting disorder called Antiphospholipid syndrome. I was also diagnosed with Lupus. This is why my Kidney is currently only functioning at 12%. I only have one kidney because in 1988 when I was 21 years old, I was a living Kidney donor to my father. This in no way contributed to my Kidney disease.
My Kidney had been showing signs of decreased function since 2010, but I didn’t find out that I was in end stage renal failure until my the stroke and Lupus/APS diagnoses in 2019.
Kidney failure is tough, while I am not on dialysis yet, I am getting very close to needing it to stay alive. Currently my energy level is low, my skin and eyes are very dry and itchy. Some days I have to nap just to get through the day. I often feel weak and nauseous..I know the toxins are building up in my body and if a donor doesnt come forward soon, the only way to continue on is with dialysis.
.
Having a transplant would mean the world to me! It would mean feeling normal, having more energy to exercise, and feeling healthy again. I will always have the other health issues but they are well managed through medications and taking good care of myself. I am looking forward to a long, happy life with my boyfriend and beautiful family, and someday grandchildren.
Living donation is an incredible gift, and those who are interested can begin the process completely confidentially. You can simply learn more, ask questions, and see if it’s the right path for you—there is no pressure, only the opportunity to make a life-changing difference.
Even if donation isn’t something you can consider, you can still help me in a huge way: please share this post. The more people who see my story, the greater the chance that the right person will come forward.
Your support, whether through sharing or exploring donation, truly means everything. Thank you for being part of this journey. 💙
